My first band review from Rockfest 2007 will be on OPERATOR. This is a kick butt new band out of California. Their style is very in your face power hard rock. You will not be drifting off nicely to sleep when you listen to their stuff. When they hit the stage, you knew you were going to get pounded. The lead singer launched into a diatribe about how he wanted everyone to participate. “You bought the ticket, you spent your money…if you aren’t gonna get up and participate – get up and go get a drink!”
The band has a single out right now called “Soulcrusher.” The dude has a bit of Chris Cornell to his voice – the good part of him that is. Check it out on their website (operatormusic.com) or on their myspace page. The band did a cover of “It’s So Easy” by Guns ‘N’ Roses that friggin’ KILLED.
I am telling you right now, this is a band to watch for in the hard rock realm. They put power and heart into their performances and make it loud. Well worth a listen.
Wow, this has been interesting. I cross posted this on my MySpace page blog and have gotten two requests to repost! Kinda neato! Anyway, one of the nice people who asked to repost the review gave me the band’s lineup, cuz I am being a moron and couldn’t find it or something. Here it is:
Johnny Strong – Vocals
Wade Carpenter – Bass
Dorman Pantfoeder – Drums
Paul Phillips – Guitars
Ricky Thomas – Guitars.
Also, Angie pointed out that Paul Phillips used to play for Puddle of Mudd. Which reminded me that I need to do a Puddle of Mudd Review soon.
