Rockfest pt 5

Wow, what a three song set by Breaking Benjamin. First was DIARY OF JAYNE. Second was DANCING WITH THE DEVIL with the lead singer from Three Days Grace jumping up there to help. Follow thosw two with a cover of HURT by Nine Inch Nails. Gotta say…quite impressive.
Now I am going over to the second stage area to jam to Black Stone Cherry – another new bsnd that is impressing me.
Oooooh! The National Guard is hosing people down at the water station! Gonna get me wet!!

Rockfest pt 4

4:45 pm. Alright…Sevendust kicked butt (family friendly blog, remember?)! I really need to listen to more of their stuff. Then I headed over to the second stage to check out The Exies. They were ok. Nothing to write home about.
So now I am back at the main stage to enjoy some Breaking Benjamin. I have been listening to a couple of their cd’s lately and they have grown on me.
Marcus sent me a text earlier & said he was 20 feet from the stage & closing. I hope he makes it up there. He is really into Breaking Benjamin. He also told me that the 60 feet we were from the stage earlier was the closest he has ever been to a stage. So, this will be cool for him.
Ooops, they are starting up. Gonna listen now.

Rockfest pt 3

3:55 pm. Sevendust.
This is one hardcore band! Usually I don’t go for the major mosh type bands any more, but man, they are tearing it up.
Marcus has started his journey to the front in anticipation of Breaking Bejamin, who is next on the main stage. I for one am glad I am not up there right now. I could not have handled it too well physically. I am good hanging back here.

Rockfest pt 2

Man, we survived Puddle of Mudd – but kinda barely. We had a spot real close to the stage. When they kicked it off with AWAY FROM ME the place went nuts. Then they hit into CONTROL and any semblance of restraint went away. The crowd surfing was frigging non stop. Luckily, Marcus & I are pretty good sized guys. I think I had at LEAST 25 people – both male & female pass ove my head. The mosh pit fired up right in front of us & it got ugly for awhile.
Next to me was some lady withtwo girls. The girls were somewhere around 12 – 15 years old! They sure picked one heck of a show to be the first. When all the shoving started my fatherly instincts kicked in and I tried to shield them as much as I could and keep the people from falling on them while surfing.

Now here is the fun part…I am only 16 days removed from hernia surgery, and Marcus has a torn tendon in his ankle. Perhaps being about 60 feet from the stage with a swarm of CRAZY Kansas Citians behind us was not a BRILLIANT IDEA. We both decided to sit out Chevelle – but we heard it and it was damn good. We are probably gonna hang towards the back of the crowd for the rest of it, with Marcus rushing to the front for Breaking Benjamin.
Now we are over at the second stage checking out Operator. Gotta say – they aren’t bad.

UPDATE:  About Operator…Check out their stuff!  THEY ROCK HARD.  Their first single is called Soulcrusher and it is phenomenal.  The lead singer’s voice has a bit of Chris Cornell (Soundgarden, Audioslave & Temple Of The Dog) in it.  They did a cover of “It’s So Easy” from Guns ‘N’ Roses that blew me away.  DEFINITELY dig their sound.

Rockfest pt 1

Ok kids, we made it in! It is 12:15 pm an Red Line Chemistry is goin on the second stage. Marcus & I have made our way to the Main Stage, where Puddle of Mudd is to kick it hard at 1:30. This is already a scene of insanity. We are close enough for some pictures and video. I will post those later.

This Is Hysterical!

I Might Be Lazy, But, Not THIS lazy…

How frigging lazy is THIS?  I mean, come on…pushing a baby stroller while riding a Segway?  Sheesh…

ROCKFEST IS TODAY!!!!

Oh YEAH…The – I mean THE – Concert Event Of The Summah is here at last! 40,000 Tickets – GONE. 60,000 Beers – Chilled and soon to be GONE. 15 Bands – AMPED. One band, BUCKCHERRY, is flying in from Europe specifically to play this show. I was listening to the radio yesterday and got two interesting tidbits: (1) a dude hitch hiked all the way from Asheville, North Carolina to be at the show – he apparently listens to 98.9 THE ROCK online; and (2) Scalpers are asking up to $1000 for a ticket.

What does this tell us boys and girls? This has all the potential to be an EPIC frickin’ Saturday. There will be some form of liveblogging going on by me here periodically. If you get bored, check it out.
